Jett Lawrence Brings Motocross Energy to the Met Gala in Custom Santo Studio x David August

In an unprecedented fusion of motorsport and high fashion, SuperMotocross phenomenon Jett Lawrence showed up on the Metropolitan Museum steps, marking the first time a SuperMotocross rider has cracked fashion's most exclusive invite.

The 2025 Met Gala theme, "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," set the perfect stage for Lawrence to prove that athletes beyond the NBA and NFL deserve serious fashion consideration. And he didn't disappoint.

Lawrence's sartorial statement came via a collaboration between SANTO STUDIO and bespoke menswear powerhouse David August.

The resulting ensemble—a deep aubergine self-floral jacquard double-breasted suit—represented a masterclass in reimagined formal codes. Featuring sculptural exaggerated peak lapels and a hidden fly front, the suit balanced distinctive construction with subtle nods to both racing culture and contemporary luxury.

The meticulously crafted trousers deserved special attention.  With a fuller cut and a tailored fit with a flared finish, it brought a nostalgic energy that makes a statement. Lawrence seemed genuinely excited about this detail when he gave followers an Instagram preview before the event.

"As you see, it's a bit of an eggplant-y kind of color, purplish maroon," he explained, highlighting the suit's distinctive stitching pattern and deliberate '80s and '90s inspirations.

The intentional flare of the trousers created what Lawrence described as "almost like a bootcut pant," demonstrating his unexpected fluency in tailoring terminology.

The footwear choice – high-gloss David August dress shoes with unexpected red soles and interiors – completed a look that felt cohesive rather than trying too hard.

Lawrence's appearance represents a significant cultural shift as athletic disciplines continue to permeate fashion's most rarefied spaces.

For SANTO STUDIO, the moment punctuates their ongoing narrative of community-driven design that transcends traditional boundaries, allowing champions of sport to authentically influence luxury expression beyond expected parameters.

As Lawrence returns to the competitive circuit, his Met Gala debut stands as evidence that contemporary luxury increasingly values authentic expertise across disciplines—confirming that the worlds of championship motorsport and haute couture may have more in common than previously imagined.
